Retrofit applications:

For retrofit applications (or new installations where the wiring is already in place) , the VERIS 900 series sensors provide the most cost-effective installation alternative. The 900 series sensors require no mounting as they have an exclusive self-gripping design. The self-gripping iris provides a means of centering the switch for high accuracy and also eliminates the need for costly mounting in the motor control center. The 900 also eliminates the need for relocating wires in motor control centers to center the wire through the hole. This unique device provides both AC and DC switching capability to meet the needs of any automation panel.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Mount the 900 series current switch on one phase of the motor by snapping the unit around the wire (no need to remove the wire) with the output terminals and potentiometer facing the front of the motor starter;
  2. Adjust the potentiometer until the "Output Status" LED just switches on;
  3. Turn the potentiometer CCW ~ 1/4 turn;
  4. The unit is now calibrated to detect mechanical or electrical failures

Special installations:

  1. For variable frequency drives (VFD's):
  2. For low current (< 3 to 5 amps):

Troubleshooting tips:

  1. If the output is unstable (e.g., intermittent or unpredictable), loop the primary wire through the center hole to increase the amount of sensed current
  2. If the wire is too large or the current exceeds 135 amps:
  3. If it is necessary to remove a 900 series switch after installation:

    (Note: the 900 series is intended to be permanently installed in the motor control center and is not designed to be removed and used in multiple installations as a test device. Consult factory for alternative products to be used where repeated removal is necessary.)

Applications are suggestions. Field applications vary; since manufacturer does not install the devices, it is up to the installer to ensure suitability and compliance to appropriate codes.
